The IHA Quality Care Institute develops and highlights publications and toolkits that can help Illinois hospitals bolster their quality and patient safety initiatives.

Standardized Wristband Toolkit for Illinois Hospitals
IHA and the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council developed a toolkit for hospitals that choose to standardize wristband colors and text. The standardization initiative is voluntary, and does not require those hospitals that presently do not use color-coded patient alert wristbands to adopt the practice. To date, more than 30 states have standardized color-coded patient alert wristbands in hospitals. Colors are used to communicate alerts to caregivers regarding allergies, do not resuscitate, and risk to fall. Information and resources include:
