Hospital Assessment Program Implementation

We are pleased to inform you that the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) is now sending letters to hospitals outlining the initial payment and assessment schedule. HFS will send the first payment – covering half of the retroactive amount due to hospitals – next week. Hospitals must pay their corresponding assessments to HFS by Feb. 14. As a reminder, under the law hospitals will not be required to submit any assessment to the state until after receipt of the corresponding Medicaid payments from the state.
