Urge legislators to bring health dollars to Illinois
Everyone in Illinois who depends on their local hospital and the health care delivery system should be deeply concerned about the failure of the General Assembly to take action to bring $600 million in critically needed federal Medicaid funds to the state -- funds that have already been approved by the federal government.

All it would take for the state to receive that federal money is for state lawmakers to approve a supplemental budget appropriation. Without that action, Illinois is missing out on obtaining federal funds intended for health care for the poor, the elderly, the developmentally disabled and others. Unfortunately, other issues, unrelated to these funds, have been attached to the supplemental appropriation measure, preventing legislative action.

We are extremely disappointed that our government leaders have not given this critical health care issue sufficient priority. Urge your legislators to pass the supplementary budget appropriation so the state can receive the hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funds it is entitled to and strengthen health care for all Illinoisans.
