New Illinois Hospital Association 5 Million Lives Campaign Action Initiative

The Illinois Hospital Association (IHA) will be hosting a series of conference calls to support Illinois hospitals enrolled in the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) 5 Million Lives Campaign. The conference calls, each focused on 1 of the 12 IHI interventions, will feature Illinois hospitals that have achieved IHI Mentor Designation.

IHI Mentor hospitals have volunteered to provide support, advice, clinical expertise and tips to hospitals seeking help with the implementation efforts. Mentor hospitals have already made the improvements and are successful at their change efforts and work they do. By featuring Illinois Mentor hospitals in these monthly educational teleconferences, participants will have the unique opportunity of learning from and sharing valuable tips and resources amongst their peers.

Key features and benefits to participating hospitals include:

  • Monthly calls, 40 minutes in length, focused on a single IHI intervention
  • Hearing from Illinois IHI Mentor hospitals about their improvement and change strategies
  • Opportunity for question and answer following Mentor hospital presentation
  • Information updates from Jonah Borrelli, Field Coordinator, Central Region, IHI
  • Opportunity to share your improvement story with others
  • Available at no additional charge to you, however enrollment in the IHI 5 Million Lives Campaign is required along with registration for each of the conference calls.

Upon conclusion of each monthly conference call, Illinois hospitals are invited and encouraged to share their improvement stories with other Illinois hospitals. Participants can do so by submitting to IHA a brief description of specific changes, results, and successes you have had at your hospital with each of the featured interventions. IHA will post stories on the IHA website in order to continue the sharing, collaboration and learning from each other. Details on how to submit your stories will be announced shortly.

Future intervention conference calls, topics, dates, and times, will be posted on the IHA site. Presentation slides will be made available prior to the conference call.
