On November 14, 2007, The Joint Commission updated the values for all states for Patient Safety Goals (PSG) 1B, 4A, and 4B. These updated values are reflected in the attached document (see link below). November 9, 2007 Joint Commission Study and Press Release: Monday, November 12, 2007The Joint Commission has informed state hospital associations and AHA that on Monday, November 12, 2007 "The Joint Commission Report on Quality and Safety 2007 – Improving America’s Hospitals" will be released to the public. The report is somewhat similar to the report released earlier this year in March. There were several news media throughout Illinois and at a national level that wrote articles about this report and sought reaction from local hospitals. Unlike earlier this year, hospital associations this time were only provided with the statistical ranges of performance at a state level and specific statistics at a national level. Similar to last release, the performance measurements only include hospitals that chose these measurements to be reported to Joint Commission and the Patient Safety Goals only include providers that were surveyed during calendar year 2006. Hospitals should have readily available their information covering calendar year 2006 on DHHS Hospital Compare web site and be prepared to respond to any inquiries. Hospitals accredited by Joint Commission should also review their information on Joint Commission Quality Check web site as Joint Commission has updated the information through 1st quarter 2007.
