Updated Edition: IHA Quality/Patient Safety Data Guide
The IHA Quality/Patient Safety Data
Guide ("Guide"), initially developed and
distributed last year, has been updated to reflect recent
developments. The Guide provides a convenient
one-stop reference for the numerous quality and patient
safety reporting activities that involve our Illinois
hospitals. It is intended not only to serve as a resource
tool for our members, but to also support our advocacy
efforts with regard to Illinois hospitals’
quality/patient safety initiatives.
The annotated Guide was specifically designed to be helpful
and user-friendly for CEOs and other health care
stakeholders (e.g. legislators, administrators, public) who
are looking to enhance their understanding of this issue.
However, quality and data professionals should also find
the condensed format of the Guide useful for their
operational purposes. The Guide includes:
- Background information
- Federal and state related
activity
- Mandatory and voluntary
initiatives
- Publicly available information
- Charts
- Glossary
The updated PDF version is
now available via the patient safety page on IHA’s web site (click
here). The electronic version includes
integrated links, allowing one to easily locate areas of
particular interest within the document, as well as to
outside authorities. Annual updates to the PDF version
are planned to address any new mandates or pertinent
developments related to the evolving area of
quality/patient safety collection and measurement.
