January 15, 2008 2008 Scholarship Fund ProjectTO: Chief Executive Officers, Member Institutions A major initiative of IHA’s Constituency on Volunteers is the healthcare Scholarship Project. Thanks to the generosity of our members, in 2007, 30 - $1,000 scholarships were awarded. We’re all well aware of the shortage of healthcare workers, especially nurses. The CoV has addressed that issue by determining again that half of the scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing a career in the field of nursing. The additional scholarships will be distributed statewide to the most qualified students pursuing a health care career outside of nursing. At least two students from each of the nine IHA regions will be assured of receiving a scholarship. I hope your hospital will give serious consideration to making a contribution to the CoV Scholarship Fund. Perhaps you’ll choose to match the donation made by your Auxiliary, contribute to the fund in memory of a past member of your Board of Directors or in honor of an outstanding staff member or maybe in recognition of an event such as an anniversary. Donation forms as well as an application are attached for your use. Contributions should be accompanied by the enclosed form and mailed directly to: IHREF Scholarship Fund The deadline for donations is April 15, 2008 – so don't delay – send your contributions now!
